a question about "auto caption"

I set up my auto caption in my document. for example, I checked "table" box
in "auto caption" wishing the caption were added automatically when I insert
a table into my document. The set works well while I keeps working on current
document, but after I close word and re-start the program, all my settings in
"auto caption" gone, even in the exact same document. Is there anyway I can
save those settings? At least, I want to keep the same setting for the
document which I am working on currently, so that I don't need to reset the
auto caption every time I open it if there isn't a general solution.

By the way, I installed adobe acrobat 7 in my computer and tired "shift +
save" solution which works very well about toolbar button changings. But the
solution doesn't work this time.

Any response is appriciated. Thanks a lot.

Well, I am almost close to the solution to this problem. I solve it mostly by
removing adobe PDF plug-ins from word. This can be done from "control
panel"-->"add or remove files"-->"adobe acrobat reader"-->"change/remove",
then choose "modify" to remove the pdf creator to office package.

but, there still is a problem, when I want to insert some cross-reference,
like figures, the default option is "entire caption" and I can't save my
change, say "only the label and number". Is there any solution about it?
