Hi,

When Palm doesn't hotsync with Outlook XP sp-3. The
message shows up: "A program is trying to access e-mail
addresses you have stored in Outlook, do you want to
allow this?". "If this is unexpected, it may be a virus
and you should choose "No". When you choose Yes sometimes
you are able to sync and sometimes you are unable to sync.

The answer from Palmone is:

"I would like to inform you that this message is
displayed as a security feature provided by Microsoft for
Microsoft Office. To get rid of this message you need to
contact Microsoft."

Please advice:

How to regonize hotsync automatically without
answer "yes" to Outlook xp sp-3.

Thank you very much

<lol> Did Palm offer you the latest version of Hotsync (and/or condiut)
software? The reason that I ask is that Microsoft did make a change on what
objects are blocked and vendors need to update their software to deal with
the added restrictions.

Outside of that, you can get more information about the security
enhancements by looking at:

ps - the feature can't be turned off, only administered under very specific
conditions.

Hi, Neo,
Thank you very much for your suggestion.
I understand that the security message in Outlook XP sp3
reduce the chance of malicious code being able to access
email address. As I know, the latest Palm Pilot software
(version 4.1.0, release at April 2004)is affected by this
change. (Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 838871)
My question is these any alternative way to turn off the
security message when do hotsync, instead of wait for
uncertain minutes and the message comes up then say "yes"?

Thank you very much

Regards,

Glen

As Neo said, it cannot be turned off, on administered by Exchange
administrators. Try ClickYes to automate the process - see
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/esecup.htm for the link or Google for it.

I'm somewhat surprised the palm hasn't released an update for their software
yet - many 3rd party apps were fixed within a couple of weeks of SP3's
release, only a few that are less popular or no longer in development
weren't fixed.
