A great cataloging tool and two new freeware

I have just discovered Disk Explorer Professional which is by far the
best of the free cataloging utilities I´ve tested, especially
impressed with the option of viewing thumbnails of picture collections
and ID3 tags from music files. Also includes password protection,
compression and a lot more.
SEO Note looks to be a promising successor to KeyNote (that´s not
beeing developed any more) when it comes to notes organising.
Handy File Tool is a completely new utility for file searching,
renaming and text replacements including multi line replacement and an
option to make a list of commonly used text strings. The software is
already very good and it will according to the developers, be updated
frequently. Worth to follow. More info here:

I really wish you were wright.

Why should he be wright ? to fly over to you or what.

Your email is the same email that is as "Kontakt" or "Contact" on the site
you're spamming for.

I think we have a winner :)

he is not spamming, he is informing about a freeware in a freeware
newsgroup.

even if he did make it, this info belongs here as long as it is freeware.

hrmmm that's a tricky one. We've already confirmed that he is spamming ...
and even if it's freeware, spam is spam ... or is spamming here ok as long
as it's freeware?

I just tried that program he mentioned that catalogs
files and its as good as "where is it" (another payware program) and its
free!

Where was this program? This is the first time I have seen it.

Its a good thing he posted about it, now I can tell others that might need
it.

How do you say that he is spamming?

Isnt this newsgroup free for freeware developers to post their products and
inform the public?

I would think it is and it should be happy to have developers here
contributing...

Cant you see a positive side of this?

How can you discover it when you created it?

****en spammer.

The OP is the webmaster of a nice site with categorized links to
freeware.
So, what do you mean: "you created it" ??? The website?

Why don't you just grow up fast, ****en kid.

oh oh..... I see another poll comming up, a-la-corliss asking :

should we ban developers or webmasters from posting freeware because we
declare them "spammers"?

lol

Did you click on the "Disk Explorer Pro" in the box at the top left?

Takes you to <http://www.tjelinek.com/main.php?section=d>

Click on Downloads and you end up here:
<http://www.tjelinek.com/main.php?section=dd>

Any further and I'll have downloaded it!

I'm using Moz 1.7.12, via proxomitron, little else blocked, it was
pretty obvious what to do.

Cheers,

"Gary R. Schmidt" offered the next tips :
Did you click on the "Disk Explorer Pro" in the box at the top left?

I think I did

that give me the same page as
http://www.tjelinek.com/main.php?section=d&PHPSESSID=ba6e17b4983e5f8474f322c
which is the same page without &phpsessionid.
Click on Downloads and you end up here:

that's the problem I ask help for.
No, I don't end up there and there is no button or whatever to click on to
start the download.

only clicking this direct link helps me to get that page.
Bypassing proxomitron doesn't help.
Any further and I'll have downloaded it!

not me.
If I click on "downloads on this page: "
* Disk Explorer Professional

I only jump to and see :
Prices of Disk Explorer Professional
Order full version of Disk Explorer Professional

No way to download something.

But proxomitron is the troublemaker.
Bypassing the last page gave me a complete other pageview and makes it
possible to download the program.
My proxomitron settings have blocked something to see the ...?section=dd
page on the ..?section=d page.
( I only see the text in the middle section on the ..dd page. I see no left
and right frame and pictures. That must be my proxomitron setting to kill
off-site images ).

Finally, I got the program.
Thanks

Let me say it NEVER ceases to amaze me how much information you've
amassed at this great site. Virtually every freeware program that is
discussed here is, or will be listed on those pages. Well documented
with links, and other information.

BUT, there is the "NOTES" link that I don't currently understand. It
takes me to the login page for the acfwiki. I, and I assume most
here, don't have an account there to edit. If I, or anyone else,
clicks on a "NOTES" link of a program I am not familiar with, I want
to read notes, NOT add them.

Now my question. Is there anyway to grant readonly access to the wiki
with these links? Mark Carter's comments would be welcome too.

Hi Dewey,

The wiki's password is shown at the bottom of the daily info post - it's
"axEgD5hL4a" (without the quote marks).

If I, or anyone else,
clicks on a "NOTES" link of a program I am not familiar with, I want
to read notes, NOT add them.

Now my question. Is there anyway to grant readonly access to the wiki
with these links? Mark Carter's comments would be welcome too.

The links do grant read-only access - the problem is there's not much to
read. 48 apps have notes - you can read those notes without logging in.

The remaining 4000+ links do not (as yet) have any notes. Those 4000+
"links to nothing" are the ones that take you to the log-in page. I
don't know of any way to change that behavior (nor can I think of a good
work-around). If anyone else does (or has any work-arounds to suggest)
I'm all ears. . .

FWIW AllPages lists all pages in the wiki. I just added a link to
AllPages at the top of the wiki's front page (to make it easier to get
to). The number links are the *existing* notes pages.
http://acfwiki.pbwiki.com/AllPages

That doesn't address the real problem but maybe it will help a bit. . .

The pbwiki site is great in that it was a no-brainer to set-up and it
was pretty easy to transfer the info from the previous wiki. In the long
run I think a better solution will be to move to the PWH site and use a
different type of wiki.

There hasn't been much discussion about the wiki - comments or questions
are welcome.

That explains it.

I tihnk I 'll check programs I know well, and add a note! I hope
others consider doing the same.
