A disk read eror occurred

R

REBECCA

I have attempted to upgrade my home pC from 98 to 2000 and
after I thought I successfully upgraded the PC, the
computer rebooted and gave "A disk read error occurred"
message and indicated press ctrl-alt-delete to restart.
However the same messgae appears everytime, despite any
changes I make in the Setup utility. There was one
article which describes that you need to edit CMOS, but I
am unsure where to edit that setting.

CMOS is within your BIOS, if you arent familiar with using your BIOS I would
not recommend playing with the CMOS. One thing you can do is boot the
machine into recovery console and run chkdsk /r on the machine to see if
there are any issues with the hard drive that might be easily corrected.
