A curious question about records and buttons

In a form I have a button associated with each row. Am I asking too much to
know whether it is possible to enable the button for the lowest ID number
only (ie the first record) but disable it for all other rows?

Unfortunately, yes, you are asking for too much. <g>

While it may appear that you have, say, 10 buttons on your form, in reality
there's only a single button, repeated 10 times. Any change you make to one
of the buttons applies to all of the buttons. That's just the way it is with
unbound controls.

I thought so. There was a reason for the question but now I am not sure
whether it would be useful anyway.

Does the button have to be on the sub-from? Can't you have it on the main
form, but linked to the first item in your sub-form?

I used the "DMIN" function in the query criteria.
