a cell's bounding border is not visible

Hi,

When selecting a cell usually you see a heavy black border around it and has
a light grey background, but this time when I tried to select a cell (or a
range of cells) this bounding is not visible.

Can anyone help?

Is the worksheet protected?
To unprotect it, choose Tools>Protection>Unprotect sheet
