Yeah: as you say in your other post, the lack of an inbuilt spell-
checker in XNews is a notable failing. (There are ways of using
external spellcheckers, but that's a royal pain when you're
reading/writing on-line.)

Been having trouble with Forte Agent - any ideas on a good replacement
either free or otherwise?

Mozilla'a Thunderbird is pretty good and a good alternative Agent. Support email
to and don't have to pay to activate features.

When using Outlook Exp I have experienced that groups dissapear, also
problems with compression of files.

With 40tude I have never had that.

Me neither.
Morgan, why don't you update your Dialog to v2.0.15.1 ?

I'll throw some up in freeware if anyones interested they can
look. I toggle reading with the enter key & use the period a lot
as well as the backslash mapped to skip quoted text. That is, if
I can get the net to work today. It is having trouble where I
am.

Xnews will open any external editor that you choose, which is better than
just having a spell checker. :)

How is that better than pressing send and the spell check automatically
starts?

If you are in a big binaries groups, Alt-Enter is a great way to control the
range you want too. I like the flexibility. Spell checker would be handy but not
a necessity.

Wow, that's really pretty - I went for Netscape peppermint colours for a
bit, but idleness put me back to white after a reinstall.

But how do you do the Autosize?

I've tried putting

AutoSizePctA=85
AutoSizePctB=25

in the Display section of the ini file as per manual to see what happens,
but nothing did. I'm not really teckernikle enough to probe further

Because you can use any editor that you choose, not only the one included
in your newsreader, that you may not like.
Choice is usually a good thing, don't you agree?

Hey, Ive cracked it! I also had to map a key to make it operate; that's
excellent, there can't be anything this can't do.

While I was messing around I found that single clicking on the subject
opens a post, in any other column it just selects (and focusses on the
header window triggering autosize.

Excellent

Um. OK.

I don't normally use the autosize option.

Why not just click view/autosize?

Never crossed my mind!

Now I've looked I see there's also the key that I mapped on the dropdown
menu; there's power for you, innit?
