when using frontpage 2002 _vti_cnf folders are generated? what are they?

The files in these folders are what maintain the "inventory" of your web
that is used by FrontPage.
They maintain such things as how FP knows :
what links to update when you change a file name,
when a page or file was last updated,
what pages to publish when you select changed pages only,
and much more.
They are your friend as they make your FrontPage life easier.

Hi Dave,

If you are going to use a site that has the FrontPage extensions on it..then
please leave those files/folders alone. FrontPage uses them for keeping
track of changes to your site when publishing (among other things) Consider
them as if they were system files.

Which is why they are hidden when viewing you have your site open in FP.
