HI,I'm presently using 98SE which is an upgrade version from my old WIN 95 OEM Will I be able to upgrade to WIN XP Home by buying and using the XP upgrade version or will I have to buy the full XP version? This may seem like a dumb question but I'm asking because in an ad from BEST BUY,they say the XP upgrade version only can be used with a full previous version of Windows. There's about a $50 difference in price so I don't want to get the full version of XP if it's not necessary. TIA

Thanks for the quick reply Doug. From checking the MS upgrade sites I thought I was ok with the upgrade but then that ad kinda made me wonder. Thanks again!!

Although you CAN you the upgrade version, if you have a 98 CDROM, or if 98
is on the disk, whether you SHOULD upgrade is a another matter. Before
spending the money, download the free upgrade advisor from Microsoft and let
it check your PC's hardware and software for XP compatibility. A PC that
originally had 95 on it is generally a poor candidate for XP, without major
hardware upgrades. You may also need new software, especially virus
scanner, CD writer, any third-party sustem tools (e.g., Norton, PowerQuest),
etc.
