9800 XT better than Pro?

With all the variations, someone enlighten me as to if the XT is a faster
gaming card than the Pro, also there are various manufactures of the 9800
XT, which is the best?

It depends what you mean by best. For example, BBA have 3 years
warranty, the only card which do I believe. On the other hand some of
the other brands tend to have more overclockable memory and may even
come with higher stock clocks (the advantage is that you are 100%
guaranteed it will work at this speed, if it doesn't you should return
it whereas with good memory but normal stock speeds, if it doesn't
work you can't complain). There are also variations in software
bundles etc. I believe the are also some AAW XTs. Of course, price
varies too. There are so many factors and you'll have to decide for
youself what you want.

Somewhat faster, also more overclockable (the chips used in the XT series
are slightly improved over the non-XTs). Enough faster to justify the
price difference is debatable.

In ATI cards "XT" means clocked faster than the Pro.
In Nvidia cards "XT" means clocked slower than the standard card.

Worse in nvidia words XT means CRIPPLED, hello 64-bits memorybus!

Don't buy an ATI 9600XT based video controller unless it is a genuine retail
ATI 9600XT, as most other "builders" that are using the ATI 9600XT chipset
have not fully followed the ATI reference design, used old PCB's that were
"in stock"
to rush product out for Christmas holiday, and have not enabled the ATI
"OVERDRIVE"
feature.

I too was "duped'" by C.P.Technology Co., Ltd. aka/dba in United States as
Power Color USA Corp. in purchasing a R96A-C3T in a new system I had built
by Future Technologies International, Inc. (FTI), Great Neck, NY about two
weeks ago, who is an "authorized" distributor/reseller" Power Color
products.

The cost to me between the Power Color R96A-C3T and a genuine retail ATI
9600XT was less than five dollars, but I went ahead with the Power Color
Product since it seemed to have a better bundle. I was not aware that there
were any differences in the cards, as Future Technologies International,
Inc. (FTI) web site (as do most other resellers) still to this day state the
fact that the Power Color R96A-C3T has "OVERDRIVE", as does C.P.Technology
Co., Ltd. Main web site, only in the last week has the Power Color USA Corp.
web site quietly removed the statement about the Power Color R96A-C3T having
'OVERDRIVE" ability.

Well in my system the 9800pro gets better benchmark scores than the 9800xt
does. But in games I really notice no difference in FPS which is what really
counts. IMHO the 9800pro gives more bang for the buck

If you've got a 9800 pro that is benchmarking higher than a 9800 XT iin the
same system then something's wrong somehwere.

Guess somethings wrong then because thats is the case here.
I have no problem with either card but the pro does slightly better in every
benchmark I ran and I see no FPS difference in the games on my system using
FRAPS.
I have 40+ games installed at the moment and all run perfect using 3.7's on the
9800 pro

Strange when the XT has a higher clock speed and the same circuit design.
