My new XP install has generated (after 10 days) 75000 files in the
folder "documents\username\application
data\microsoft\protect\S-1-5-...". The files are 368 bytes long with
names like 0a3a128e-66b8-5253-bc66-ff5547e433ea. The file contains the
same hexnumber and other binary data. I think this must be a XP bug.
Google shows that there are other people with this problem, but no
solution was found.
The problem is, that while logon XP scans all the files so my computer
is locked for 30 minutes (There is no network traffic, and no open tcpip
connections).
What are these files for? Are they related to the EFS encryption? Can I
delete this files? Where can I get more information regarding the
folder?
By the way using a different profile this problem did not occur.
