Ok, this has probably been asked a hell of a lot. Ive tried looking, and its pretty much impossible to search for it (32,or,64,bit are all ignored in a search and vista brings up hundreds XD).

So basically, for this computer http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-052-OK&groupid=43&catid=963&subcat=&name="Ultima%20OC%20Complete%208800GT"%20Intel%20Core%202%20Quad%20Q6600%202.40GHz%20@%20QX6950+%203.00GHz+%20Quad%20Core%20DDR2%20Complete%20System

Should i be getting the 32 or 64 bit premium vista? its mostly gonna be used for gaming, but i am pretty confused. So just direct advice would be handy. cheers.

personally, I would go for the 32 Bit Edition, because the 64 bit still has come some problems with gaming etc. but anyhow, see what others have to say.

64 Bit all the wayyyyyyyyyyyy!

Have not had ANY compatability problems for a long time now.

Better upgrade options as well, good board on that system, if you need more horsepower for games in the future then get 2 ATI in Xfire, plus you can have 8gb RAM as well.

32 Bit is out of date.

I had issues with 64 Bit Vista, particularly with games, but that was six months ago.

That wasn't a great deal of help really, was it? :D

I do hear most of the issues with 64 bit have been resolved now so I think if I were purchasing Vista right now I'd go for 64 Bit.

And talking of buying Vista, I think this one licenced 32 Bit will be the only one I ever buy, other machines will stick with XP and Linux until Win 7 is published.

Of course, we're all assuming Win 7 will be better, what if it's worse?

In Vista's favour - and I am not promoting MS here, just saying as I see - since I installed Vista in January of this year I have not experienced one BSOD or ever had Explorer crash on me. I have auto updates switched on and most of the UAC stuff as well.

The only big criticism I have of Vista is that it takes 5 to 10 seconds for any disk other than Drive C to show all it's contents when accessing it first thing after boot. That really annoys me cos with XP it's instant.

I'm also reading tales of how Vista sets all protocols for you without asking which is kinda scary but for me, as long as all is working well and it's doing everything I want it to do, then I'm mostly happy.

And right about now (hmm, there's a song there somewhere soul brother) I realise I've got the waffles and will cease to rabbit ;)

You would be nuts to buy Vista with 7 just around the corner.

Shouldn't this year old thread be killed of just like Vista.
