Have I missed something here? I asked MSAS to check for updates just now.
It updated the spyware definition file to 5729, and told me that the latest
software was installed. However, after having read all the latest news I
find there is 614 which I downloaded from the Microsoft site. Why does it
not update automatically, or at least tell me there is an update to the
software available?

Well, thats a mystery.............. also about version 613 and 614.

You find some small notes within download page,
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...a2-6a57-4c57-a8bd-dbf62eda9671&displaylang=en

And 614 IS latest version according this page.

MS and information to end users ........... ;)

Maybe some MS webdirector thinks its more important to inform
about scheduling which does not work directly from MS frontpage ;)

Auntie Kate is still very puzzled, Plun!
The site says:
"Existing users of the beta (Builds 1.0.501 and 1.0.509) will receive a
software update that extends the expiration date and includes the
enhancements to the detection and removal capabilities. The second beta
refresh is also available for download through this site. "

This looks to me as if MS is going to tell me there is something available
rather than me having to go and look-see every so often. The same thing
happened for 509. Is it just me,or something?

Hi

Maybe something also went wrong with distribution to all download
servers ?
MS probably using Akamai for this and maybe some files is missing ?

I thought I would see if my pal was having the same problem with not being
informed of updates to the software. The spyware definitions are all
up-to-date but when we ask to Check for Updates it says that the latest
software is installed (509). It is not a problem for me to install it but
this is a bit of a bug if it doesn't tell you there is something new
available.

.......On the other hand have you seen all that stuff in Help making it even
easier to check for Windows Updates?
