6.1 doesn't make 4.7 go away

I guess 4.7 comes pre-installed with XP. I upgraded several XP PCs we have
from 4.7 to 6.1. However, the 6.1 install didn't make 4.7 die. Didn't
seem to overwrite it. Now they're in conflict. 4.7 keeps trying to login
and messes up the 6.1 login or visa versa.

How can I make 4.7 go away? I try to select the "do not login at start-up"
in 4.7 but that seems to have mixed results.

Found my answer after looking further in another thread:

"However if you want to completely remove/uninstall Windows Messenger from

Thanks Gary Tsang. That did the trick! Killed 4.7 but left 6.1 intact.

In messenger click tools--Options--General, then untick
the two top boxes.
