500 MHz machine?

Vista supposedly wants an 800 MHz CPU... If you try to install it on a 500
MHz system, will it refuse, or will it just run slower?

It may run a lot slower than what it should. Previous versions of Windows
didn't do a CPU speed check, I'm not sure about Vista, though. I doubt it,
as it may interfere with SpeedStep laptops.

People are having issues with 3GHz and speed, so 500 may be too slow to
handle for you...

I successfully installed an early Longhorn (pre Vista) build on a 366 MHz
computer.
It took forever to do anything.
But that was not only the underpowered computer but the early build as well.
I have not tried it since, but if I did, I am certain it would not stay at
all since it would do nothing for testing/evaluations.

800 MHz will be slow as it is.
As to whether it will refuse, it depends on if the writers have that in the
code yet.

Why not try it and tell us? I would suggest that the amount of RAM is
equally important and might compensate, to a certain degree, for missing
CPU speed.
