IE will not connect to the internet unless certain users
have administrator privilege.

XP

5 users - 2 administrators - 3 limited accounts - Norton
disabled and once removed to test.

both admin accounts can connect to internet with IE.

1 of 3 limited accounts can use IE to connect to internet.

all limited accounts can connect to internet with AIM and
Mozilla.

WHAT IS WRONG??? PLEASE HELP!!!

Compaq support took 2 hours and couldn't figure it out.

I've spent 5 more hours on my own!

could it be you have a trojan in the system.. but you have
done a virus scan allready with latest updates. uses admin
to access your files to go out to the net. don't think it's
spyware.

I did scans and nothing but a couple spyware progrms that
I disabled.

It's amazing how difficult it can be to make things work
sometimes.

don't know then but how about in ie,tools, connections in
the user account that can not get online see that the
password and internet connection account is there. very
weird. might need to be admin account temporarily to
change any settings if they are missing.

Try this in the run bar!

sfc /scannow

Its a windows file check if there is anything missing it will ask for your
CD to reinstall files. I have found some adware causes mcafee to remove XP
files..
