My pc is not recognising the 3 1/2 floppy at all, its
displaying 5 1/4. I have removed the 5 1/4 from using the
device manager and tried adding the drivers for the 3 1/2
but it keeps coming up as 5 1/4. the bios displays 3 1/2
as the a drive.

any ideas?

Reads like the FDD controller in the BIO's is disabled.
This legacy 5 1/4 will come up if it is so.
