Hi,

I just found out that I need a bigger HDD for my C:, and I'm wondering if I get
a new drive that needs the 48bit-LBA to be enable in the register.

The question is that I have another drive (a WD 60Gb) and I'm wondering if I
will be able to access the data as before or if enabling the 48bit-LBA will
destroy or simply prevent me from using the data as I do now

Martin, you will be Ok it's backwards compatabile. WinXP will work with
drives over 137G as long as you have SP1 update installed. Even with
Motherboards that are older you can always get a Ultra DMA PCI or Raid Card.
They contain
their own Bios and large drives will work fine with them. Then the Drives
Manufacturer usually has Installation Software.

Thanks for the answer, but I never ever got any software with a new HDD, and I
bought a lot of them. Are they for the new large HDD ?

If you buy the retail version you will, if you buy the OEM version you might
or you might not. Usually not
