4 minute AVI file too large. How do I change it?

Hello, I'm new to this forum because I'm usually able to find all the answers
I need just be surfing. However, I've run into an issue that I just can't
figure out.

I have a website for a client, and they now have a 4 minute video they'd
like on their homepage. They want it as a small video box, that people can
choose to click "play" or not. I converted it to an .avi file as
recommended, but its 840 meg. Any idea's on how to make this smaller so it
actually works?

This is the first client who ever wanted video so I'm lost.

Try converting it to streaming flash
See http://www.blue-pacific.com/products/turbinevideo/default.htm
PS
- 4 min of avi should not be 840 MB unless when it was create it was created for say a desktop resolution
- recreate it for 320x240
