I am running Vista 64 business and have had several BSODs and crashes. One
big problem is if I need to use the recovery environment (on the Vista
install disk), it will not run unless I remove ram from my machine. I dont
think its a good idea to continue to remove and reinsert memory since it will
eventually damage the socket. Is there a fix for the recovery disk that
actually supports 4 gb of ram?

Why doesn't it run? It should. Maybe you have some bad or mismatched memory.
Download and run a memory diagnostic.

It does't matter which chip is in. The same problem occurred during the
installation of vista where it would only install with 2 gb. After install,
I applied a hotfix that then allowed me to run with 4 gb of ram. So, there
must be an updated recovery disk that supports 4 gb of ram. Help needed
before my MB is toast!
