4 bit Display

I don't know how it happened, but my display went to 4 bit, 16 color (a
it does in Safe Mode). In Control Panel, no other resolution i
available. I tried manual reboot, selecting everything but Safe Mod
and still no change. Did several restores. Nada. It's a Samsun
monitor, HP pavilion 750. When it occured, a dvd drive had froze an
was no longer listed in Device manager (that's happened 39 time
before) so I was scanning for hardware changes, updating driver, an
rebooting 19 times. Eventually, the drive reappeared but my graphic
are shot
 
The problem is with your video card or driver, not the monitor. NvCpl.dll
is an NVidia library file and a further indication that the video driver is
corrupted. Download the latest driver from http://www.nvidia.com/ . Remove
the currently installed driver and install the update. If this doesn't
resolve the problem, it indicates a video hardware failure.
