Or in certain other special situations. Like if you are using a database
and you want to just ftp up an updated copy of it that may have some new
records added. So long as you havent altered the database structure
itself there is no harm in ftp'ing an updated version.
Usually media type (or database) files cause no problems
(other than FP will try to publish them again and / or not recognize them as the meta data for them is not updated)
- usually safer to just use a subweb for them
Any html files can cause problems
- especially if they contain any Run time or design time FP webbots or meta tags
- FP will not recognize them and will not have correct meta data for them
- best not to FTP html files
