3rd party download manager

For example, when downloading the IE6 SP I, advice in MS
says: 'before downloading off the web, disable 3rd party
download managers (NetZip, GetRight, etc. who can cause
interference)--or, get the CD.

What does this mean, what kind of interference, and how
do you do it (the disable recommendation)?

Run MSCONFIG from the Start/Run applet
Disable all except Explorer and Systray.

The interference is that some files when in use by these programs will not
get to be changed and the old version will not work.
