32 to 64 bit restore

I had Vista Home Premium running great, then decided to upgrade to 64 bit
version (Don't say it) New installation disk wanted to format C, so I did a
complete backup on a clean spare HD. Now the 64 version says it can't find
the HD for restore, even though it and its contents can be found under
"Computer". ("The disk containing the backup is not assessable") I can see
restore function checking the floppy drive. What gives? Thanks.

So how did you do your backup (what product, from where, etc.), and why did
you do a backup instead of a copy? How are you trying to do a restore?

Thanks for your reply.. I ran "Backup" that was offered in Vista Home
Premium. The computer was busy for hours and stuffed 20gb of what I hoped was
backup data in the clean HD. My Vista 64 disk insisted on formatting the C
drive, and after it installed I tried to use the Vista "restore" function.
So, Vista can't find the backup that Vista created, and only seems to look on
the floppy drive. Do they really think anybody is going to backup on a
thousand 1.44mb floppys? A lot of $.99 music on that backup!
