3027 cannot update. Database or object read-only

I have a number of users who operate an access 2000 database. However one pc
(windows xp pro) recieves the following error when attempting to use one
particular function of the DB. Other users do not have any problems.

Error message#

3027 cannot update. Database or object is read-only.

The function accesses a remote drive on a 2000 server. All permissions are
correct and when the user uses another PC the error does not occure.

Can anyone please tell me what might be wrong with this one PC.

Kind regards

Hi Does this happen regardless of who is logged on to this particular machine
or only for one user?

I had a similar problem a few years back and the issue was regarding the
security settings of the folder the DB was located in, although the user had
access to the DB they did not have access to the full folder and were
therefor unable to add any data.

thanks for your reply. All security permissions etc have been checked and all
ok. The user can actually log onto another pc in the department and use as
normal ?.

Hon, what does this function do? Maybe the disabled file extensions haven't
been reset on this computer after Jet 4.0 SP8 was installed but that only
causes this problem with a file import/export and you haven't given us any
clues about what might be *causing* the problem, so we can only guess. Step
through the code and find which line causes the error message and post that
line of code and any other relevant lines of code and declarations, and
somebody can probably help you narrow it down.
