Diane

I recently upgraded from ME to XP and I have 3 questions:
1. How do I disable Windows Messenger and keep it from
showing in my start up - system tray. I go to start, run,
msconfig, start-up, disable it, but it keeps coming back
up every time. 2. How do I disable Sound Max from my
system tray? I don't know how it is listed in the start up
to disable it. 3.Could you tell me what is suppossed to
be in my start-up for my system to operate correctly?

Hi Diane,

Disable Messenger also from OE (Line 59)

Check for an option to not having the icon load in the System Tray via the
program(s) in question.

Other options for removal:

Go to Start/Run and type in: msconfig. Go to the Startup Tab and uncheck
accordingly. Then run this script to remove the disabled items from the
registry.

Clear Disabled Items from Msconfig Startup (Line 148)

1. To disable messenger from starting up go to c:\Program
Files\Messenger\msmsgs (Rename this to msmsgsold or
msmsgsoff - whatever you like)Also change the Messenger
Folder to "MessengerOff" without the quotes. This should
do it.
