3 files

I recently tried to install a game but it said a file called autoexec.nt was
not suitable for running on MS-DOS applications, so my friend sent me 3 files
that he said would correct the problem, after doing so the error message did
not appear. However, it seems when i click on install for any game or
software no install wizard appears so i cant install anything. The 3 files he
sent me were autoexec.nt, config.nt and command.co. I really do not wish to
restore my pc. My OS is XP Home edition sp1. I need to know if there is an
alternative to restoring my pc.

I'm guessing by "restoring" you mean a repair installation. And that you
didn't make backups of any files you overwrote.

Have you got System Restore running? If so Start -> Programs ->
Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore.

And select a restore prior to copying those files over. This will restore
your system files, and the system registry but leave your documents intact.

For some reason there's been a lot of these autoexec.nt problems over the
last week or so, generally restoring the file from windows/repair solved
them.

Don't suppose anybody else has any clues as to what's doing this?

It probably created a legacy environment that the installer doesn't run
properly in.

Can we get the contents of those autoexec.nt files posted here?
