When I open one specific file in Excel, it only opens to 3/4 of the screen,
leaving gray space between the file and the Excel window. There are no
minimizing/maximizing icons in the upper right header of the file. I can
view and use the worksheet, just not view it in a full window. I've tried
several methods to maximize/restore the window fully, but nothing is working.
A new file will open to full capacity.

Typically that occurs when workbook protection to the worksheet window has
been set. If so, Tools, Protection, Unprotect Workbook will fix the
problem.
