2nd hard drive

I want to install a 2nd hard drive into my computer. Right now my original
hard drive is in C:, CD-rom is in D:, DVD RW is in E:. If I connect the 2nd
drive and turn on the computer, I think Windows XP will just assign it to F:.
Can I make the 2nd hard drive to D: and push the cdrom and dvdrw to E: and
F:? How? Thanks

Yes it will most likely assign it as F: if you do really want to change this
(it shouldn't really cause a problem for most things these days as the drive
letters are largely meaningless now) you can do so in Control Panel
-> Admin Tools (yes you'll need admin rights)
--> Computer Management
---> Storage / Disk Management
----> Right Click on the list of drives and it gives you an option to change
the drive letter.

Hope that helps.

I always assign high drive letters to removable drives so they won't get
changed if I decide to change the number of hard drives, change the
partitioning or add a removable drive. I assign them starting at Z and
working down. It's easy to change the drive letter. Right click My
Computer, choose manage. Click on Disk Management. Right click on the
CD or DVD drive and choose change drive letter.
