I set up a 2nd account for my daughter on my account, so she has her own
e-mail account. Problem is, now it's stuck on her mail and I can't access my
mail. Everytime I click on the Windows Mail icon, it brings up her e-mail.
How do I switch it over to my e-mail accont ?

Doesn't anyone know how I can do this ? I would really like to be able to
have access to both windows mail accounts on my laptop but not even sure if
it's possible - can someone help ? Thanks.

WindowsMail (WM) is one (client) application. The mail accounts are setup
within your WM application. When you set up other accounts, nothing will
change. That is, when you invoke WM everything looks the same. In WM, even
though you set up other accounts, all downloads will be routed to your
inbox. You can only select the account from which you want your outgoing
mail to go when you compose mail.

You might get the feature(s) you want by moving to Windows Live Mail (WLM).
It does a better job at keeping the accounts separate. Look for it on the
Microsoft site... it's free and it will come up easily, copying all your
files and accounts over for you.

This looks like another questionable "improvement" with Windows Mail. In
Outlook Express it was easy to do what Dominicus wanted by setting up
multiple identities in OE itself. Now it seems that MS wants you to go to
the trouble of setting up multiple user accounts on the computer just so
people can have more than one identities. Bummer, as far as I'm concerned.

Do you suppose MS did it in order to get customers angry
or because they had a good reason?

I wouldn't want to assume anything when it comes to MS. My guess is that
they don't try to do anything to get their customers angry; they're just
very good at doing it without really trying. If you know the reason they
had to eliminate this feature I'd like to hear it.

Gary an alternative is available, an Add-On written by an OE-MVP.

It is not free.

Thanks, Steve! It looks like something that I could use. I hope that
Dominicus is still following this thread because it looks as if it'll do
what he wants, too. I might not be free but it seems a very reasonable
price. Thanks, again.

Yeah, I'm still checking on this thread and I think that Mac's answer is a
bunch of garbage. They have a great option for multiple users, then they
take it away, then they give it back but force us to pay for it. Forget this
crap, I'll just use a free service like gmail or yahoo or one of the other
ones. I'm NOT paying for e-mail and to expect people to is just stupidity
and greed on the programmers part. I'm outta here.

And by the same token, I feel that your answer is one of the most ungrateful
responses that I ever received!

You asked:

Don't shoot the messenger.
