Is it best to partition this drive or just leave it as one big C drive?
The main advantage with partitioning is when you multiboot
multiple OSs or when you have only one physical drive and
need somewhere to write a ghost image if you do one before
you do any install etc so you can step back gracefully if things
go completely pear shaped.
What are the best ways to partition?
No such animal. Depends on your situation.
Will I lose any speed by partitioning?
Yes, you can do. That can see the heads move around more
for normal ops, particularly if you use the swap file quite a bit.
