Some program I installed changed my clock to a 24 hour clock. It told me
it was going to do it for the install but would change it back to the 12
hour clock after completion.
It did not change the clock back to the 12 hour format.
Could someone please tell me how to change the clock on my taskbar back
to the traditional 12 hour clock?
Much thanks for your time and expertise

Joanne,

[1] Try going to Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options
[2] On the "Regional Options" tab, click the Customize button to bring up
the "Customize Regional Options" dialog.
[3] Choose the "Time" tab on this dialog.
[4] Select a new format in the "Time format:" drop-down box.
[5] Click OK on each of the dialogs you have just opened to make the change.

e.g. The setting might be "h:mm:ss tt" to show a 12 hour clock, and
"H:mm:ss:tt" to show a 24 hour clock. i.e. Uppercase H for 24 hour, lowercase
h for 12 hour.

Regards,

Patrick

I believe it has been decided that there is 24 hours in a day.
Seems appropriate and logical to have a 24 hour clock then.

The 24 hour clock is for clever people. the am/pm clock is for thick
ignoramuses.

That did it - thank you very much

So what do the rest of us use? Decimal clocks?
It's a pity Microsoft doesn't understand the correct format for 12 hour
clocks and puts in the leading zero.

Speaking of pity, it IS a user settable option.

Informative, but doesn't include my own personal use (at infrequent
intervals), when I invite friends and relatives to celebrate each
gigasecond of my life. Two so far, three will require quite a bit of luck,
four would require an enormous amount of luck (but has been done
by, e.g., Jeanne Calment), five would be without precedent.
