2008 DCPromo OS Compatibility Warning

We actually want to use ADMT to take a bunch of XP SP2 boxes and migrate
them to the 2008 domain. Are we sunk? Will SP3 take care of this? What
other 2008 AD compatibility issues could we face?

Hello -,

Your subject states "DCPromo" and you talk in the posting about ADMT, please
clarify a bit.

Also to use ADMT with 2008 you have to use ADMT V3.1 which is available here:

During the DCPROMO of a Windows Server 2008 box, it brings up the warning
message with the quoted text

"Some operations on clients running versions of Windows earlier than Vista
with Service Pack 1 are also impacted, including domain join operations
performed by the Active Directory Migration Tool..."

I can't post the binary of the screenshot here but it can be seen by running
the dcpromo command.

Sorry, now i got you right, promoted one test machine again to 2008 and read
the complete warning. If you follow this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942564

you can find all solutions, if you are effected by this.
