2003 Srvr trust is broke

Hello,

I am running a mixed mode domain with 2003 Server at the core. I have
another domain that is native 2003 server that I am migrating to everything
to. For some reason the trusts between the two domains became corrupt /
confused because I cannot setup a new trust. If I am logged into the Native
domain controller and browse to Domains and trusts, it shows nothing in the
top box and the old domain in the bottom box, external trust, not
transitive. When I try to remove the old entry an error pops up that says
"An internal error occurred". I hit OK and it pops up once more. It wont
remove that stale entry. if I try to add a trust from the mixed mode domain
it says it cannot, because the target domain already has a trust setup.
Please help!

Andrew,

You can try removing the trusted domain object out of AD for the stale
domain manually via AD users and computers. Since the old trust shows as
external, I am assuming that these two domains are in separate forests. As
long as this is true, try doing the following:

1. Go into AD Users and Computers and make sure that the view is set to
include "advanced features".
2. Expand the domain tree and highlight the "system" folder.
3. In the right hand window, you will see some trusted domain objects for
whatever trust you currently have configured. Find the stale trust and
delete it manually.
4. Once this change replicates out to all the DCs in that domain, you
should be able to reestablish that external trust.

I hope this helps.
