I have 2003 Server Evaluation Edition and XP Pro
When the dual boot screen comes up and I highlight 2003 an
press enter the computer reboots. XP works fine. I can not eve
get into any of the safe modes for Server 2003. The safe mode
do the same thing. Server 2003 has just started doing this. Any ideas what
could be happening? I have read a few articles in the knowledg
base which were no help. As you can tell I am using the Evaluation
edition for educational purposes(I don't know much).

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi,

We get this issue when some service fails to boot or registry have some
corruption .
First of all please let me know at what point system restarts ?
What can you see after hitting the Enter key ?
Does it restarts immediately after pressing enter or you can see something
on the screen?
What was the last change you did on the windows 2003 ?
Which OS was installed first ?
These questions will help me to diagonse the issue
well If you dont have any big stuff on windows 2003 you can go for inplace
upgrade

Try to remove all the devices like printer, scanner attached to the server

Steps for inplace upgrade

1)Boot the computer with windows 2003 setup CD
2) Choose the option to press enter to install
3)It will search for previuos install of windows 2003 and ask to repair
that ,choose reapir option of the previuos install
4)This will fix all the issues over there and take care of the softwares
over there
5)the only problem you will get is , If you have IIS and websites running
on it It will clear the inetpub folder that means your website will
removed
