2003 - file drop down nonresponsive

This just started today - the file drop down in word and outlook is no longer
functioning - it works in excel, but not in these two apps. Also - every
other drop down is working but this one. It's making it impossible to use
"save as" and every other menu options that it found on that drop down.
Please help!

Exit Word and Outlook. Rename the Normal.dot and NormalEmail.dot files in
the Templates folder. To find the files you can search for them in Windows
(press the Windows key + F to start the find application); be sure to search
hidden files and folders. Does this help? If it doesn't, see also

I was able to locate the Normal.dot files (the NormalEmail.dot files could
not be found) - to my surprise, there were actually 3 Normal.dot files - two
with the same name Normal.dot and the other with ~Normal.dot - I just renamed
all three and it ultimately fixed the drop downs in both word and outlook.

Thank you so much for saving me from a ridiculous amount of frustration.
