I have a simple network with a lan cable between the computers. The 2000
computer can access the XP files, but when clicking on the 2000 name iunder
Microsoft Windows Network I get the message "...is not accessible: you might
not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator
of this server.... Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested
logon type at this computer. "
Shat should I do and to which machine?
I saw. here, a link to a step by step guide to establishing a network in
XP, but I lost the bookmark. What, where?

If the error occurs when accessing the 2000 computer from XP, the
problem and the solution are on the 2000 computer:

1. Click Start | Run, type "secpol.msc" in the box, and click OK.
2. Click Local Policies.
3. Click User Rights Assignment.
4. Click "Access this computer from the network" and make sure that
the Everyone group is included.
5. Click "Deny access to this computer from the network" and make sure
that the Everyone group is NOT included.

Did you create a user account on the Win2K machine that's
identical in user name, password and access rights to one on the
XP machine?
