My database is increasingly getting more complicated.

It is currently in the 2000 format (running the 2003 software).

Are there significant advantages to using the 2003 format?

If you ever plan to move forward to a newer release of Access like 2007,
would it be easier to go from Access 2000 to Acess 2003 first or just go
Access 2000 to Access 2007? I wonder what the MVP's think of that as a motive
for making a change?

I can't see any advantage whatsoever to doing so. There would be no more
effort going from 2000 to 2007 than from 2003 to 2007.

The only reason to convert a 2000 database to 2003 format would be if you
needed to make a MDE.

Do none of my MVP colleagues ever use any features introduced after Access
2000? For example, the OpenArgs Property for Reports? Hmm. As far as I
know, that is not supported in Access 2000 format.

If, indeed, the using computer(s) has(have) Access 2003 installed, I see no
advantage to running Access 2000 format. And, I have not experienced any
problems in converting from Access 2000 format to Access 2003 format.

The only advantage I see for creating Access 2000 format from Access 2002 or
2003 is if you are distributing to an audience with different versions
installed.

The format of the database doesn't make any difference as to which features
you can use. If you have Access 2003, you can use the Access 2003 features
whether you're in Access 2000 format or Access 2002/2003 format. (That
isn't, of course, true of some of the Access 2007 features like MVFs)
