2 NICs No Network

I'm having a problem that I am a loss to solve. I have a
server with 2 NICs. 1 is connected to DSL the other to
the network using private IP's. I am also using NAT to
share the DSL. Every so often the clients and the server
cannot use the internet. The servers just DNS and page
cannot be displayed. Same on the server but if I disable
the LAN connection then pull a page the re-enable the lan
connection things ar OK for a while. It seems as if IE
and NAT don't know which connection to use for DNS (I
guess). Does anyone have any idea why this happens and
how I can solve it

cheap hardware routers are much easier to use and configure. they eliminate
these types of problems, while at the same time providing better security.

Hey i got the same prob. This is DNS issue.
Here is what you should do. Open DNS mmc, then on the
properties of the DNS server on "Interfaces" tab -
choose "All Ip addresses". Then setup a forwarder - your
ISP's dns. Then we go to RRAS mmc. If you have enabled DNS
service in NAT, then you need to disable it. Both DNS cant
work on the same machine. If you have firewall - cut the
inbound TCP and UDP port 53 on your DSL NIC. If you dont -
then you can cut 'em using RRAS. Go to
"IP Routing" -> "General" and there on the DSL's NIC -
choose "Properties" and on the "General" tab -> "Input
Filters". Good luck
