john

my pst file is nearly 2 gigs

Can I create a new outlook data file and have new email go there, would I
setup a rule?

I tried archiving 2 gig pst, but it does not get any smaller

I have setup a new profile, but this is not ideal as I want to reply to
older messages

Hi John,

in Outlook under "File/New/Personal Folder (PST)" you can create a new PST
file.

I prefer to name this "Personal Folder 2008" or any other name as "Personal
Folders".

Then you must change the delievery folder to the new PST file.

Have a look on this site:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291636/en-us

as special the part: "How to Point Outlook to Your New Personals Folder
File"

Maybe it helps.

If I created a new data where would the contacts reside? I guess in old data
file

My friend has a 4.5 gig pst file
his georgies in contacts are acting up, thinking maybe a new pst would fix
this, or doing scanpst?

They can be wherever he wants them, either the new or the old PST. The
default Contactsw folder will be in whatever PST he makes his delivery
location.

Can't hurt.
