1x PCIe bus TV tuner ??

I only see 1 so far. My Hauppauge WinTV 350 is a pci
card, and it really struggles with TV movies, keeping
video and sound sync'd. Looks like old Godzilla movie.
I see a lot of talking, and then I hear it. I think there's
a way to tweak the 350 to maintain sync, but I don't
know how. A high bandwidth PCIe 1x TV tuner might
be a lot better, and my new mobo has 2 slots ready
to go.

johns. If you are going to post XNoArchive as a rule, you might make
an exception when you post original. Otherwise the thread shows
without an original post in the archives.

Yep. I'll start doing that here. It is job related to a degree.
I'm just trying to keep from getting cross-posted to scumbag
sites when I post over at the crime group. I seriously wish
google would not allow that.

"Using the Beyond TV to schedule recordings. I made a custom
profile for recording : 7 mb/sec bitrate, CBR. Using CBR,
there's no audio sync issues"

If a capture card has its own MPEG encoder, the bit rate of
the resulting stream is well within the capabilities of the
PCI bus. You should look elsewhere for your problem. The above
quote is the first thread I read using the search terms (without
the quotes):

"hauppauge 350 sync"

CBR is "constant bit rate", and I have no idea where, or if,
that can be set on your card. The other option is VBR or
"variable bit rate".

You are looking in the wrong place.

I'll try CBR. Trick is to find it in all the settings. Still
my sync problem occurs only when viewing old
movies on cable TV. I'm not even recording anything.
It is almost like the old movie is using a different
protocol that the 350 doesn't understand. When
the commercials come on, there is no sync problem
at all. PC is a high end game box with a very good
video card and 2 gigs ddr400 ram. SATA 160 gig.
I'm not seeing any other problems on the system
as far as anything else I'm doing. Also, if I record
a standard TV program, the recording plays very
well with no sync problem. The movie that gave the
worst problem was "A Bridge Too Far" ??? I even
went and rented the dvd, and it played fine ???
I noticed that movie when played on cableTV was
very dark. Kind of wonder if I was getting some kind
of drop-out problem, and the display was only
triggered on when it was sure it had a visible frame.
