1G ram limit system has 2G

I have Windows XP (32bit) on a new setup:

Intel Pentium 4 650 Prescott 800MHz FSB LGA 775 EM64T Processor

CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 (PC2
4200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory
(2 sets of these for 2GB)

EPoX EP-5LWA+ Socket T (LGA 775) Intel 925XE ATX Intel Motherboard

Problem is I run out of memory at exactly 1G... Programs tell me I'm
running low on memory, IE doesn't load correctly or won't let me open
more than XX windows. Any ideas of whats wrong? 2G shows up on boot, in
windows information etc... I changed my pagefile to 2046MB.

Any ideas?

For starters, go back and remove your pagefile settings and let Window
handle your RAM memory. It is far superior to your settings.

Thank you very much. That fixed the problem 100%.
For others a quick recap:
System memory not being fully used?
System > Advanced > Performance - Settings > Advanced > Virtual Memory
- Change > Select "System managed size"
