I enter 'expand e:\i386\autoexec.nt_ c:\windows\system32
\autoexec.nt'. It fixes the problem until I shutdown.
When I reboot, I need to do it again. Why?

Could be a trojan installing a file called winupdater or other malware.

It was a file called winupdater. I add/removed file and

all is well. Thanks!!!!

There appears to be a virus that is doing this corruption/deletion of
autoexec.nt. A reference to it has been given - see
http://groups.google.com/[email protected]
so try www.pestpatrol.com to check and hopefully clean it

C:\windows\subsystem32
file for whatever reason.

downloading XP_Fix.EXE It took me literaly hours to
sort this problem out, and was cured in seconds after I
had found out what to do!!!

It doesn't - but there is a virus that appeared at much the same time
which does.

You can restore the file from windows\repair, copying to
windows\system32, but unless you get rid of the virus it will happen
again. I understand the checker at www.pestpatrolcom can clean it
