12000 score on 3DMARK01SE with MSI RADEON 9800 PRO ?!

aight
yesterday i bought this thing

its a good card with a good cooling and a R360 core.
now when i ran 3DMARK03 i get 5700, it may look normal to you but my
friends has the same card and got 6000+ using defult clock speeds....
and in 3DMARK01SE i get 12000, thats very bad, cuz geforce 4 ti gets
that....
anyway this is my comp:
P4 2.4GHZ, 256mb 266mhz(thats small but i dont think its causing the
slow), ASUS P4S8X, win xp sp1...
im running the card at 8X AGP, and with no filters(i use the defult
setting of cat 4.7)
plz help me im hitting myself here :\

Without doubt the CPU is the bottleneck, get a faster CPU 3.2 or higher.
I get 5600 apx in 3DMark03 with this cranked out 9700 @ 351/422, on a

I would like to say that getting a better score whit buying a bigger cpu will not increase the game
play. cause if you look carefully at your benchmark you will notice that there is a specific bench
for the cpu of your main board. And that scorce influence the over all system score.->( the 500
extra point) but you could get an extra 500 point in 3dmark03 with dual memory ddr 400Mhz (1gig)
witch it would more effective than getting 3gighz cpu... 256mb is very low and that is what is
