Posted this on XP community as that's what I am running, but it was suggested
that I post it here..

Any help would be appreciated

My system was fine during the day and then in the evening it became
unresposnive. No error messages or symptons.

Checked task manager and found that Image name: WMPNETWK.EXE user: NETWORK
SERVICE was using all the cycles.

I ended the process and it just restarted itself and went back to 100%.

I have restared the system numerous times and have done a restore to an
older date and it just keeps happneing.

I can run fine is safe mode.

Any thoughts or ideas?

According to Google:

What is wmpnetwk.exe? Is wmpnetwk.exe spyware or a virus?

It turns out that I had off line files on for my photo, music, etc. folders.
It was trying to synch a lot of data for off line viewing. When I disabled
off line files the issue was resolved.

How did you disable the off line viewing? I'm not having this problem but
the info may come in handy.
