1:N Update

I am trying to update fields on the 1 side of a 1:N connection with fields
from the N side. I get an error that I can't perform this kind of update. Is
there some kind of workaround that accomplishes the same thing? Thanks for
your assistance.
 
If you establish a link between the tables in a query, the link is not
reflected in the relationship, for some reason. Thanks very much for your
assistance.
