1 Harddrive, 2 partitions, make 1 smaller

I have 1 Harddrive (80GB) and 2 partitions on it (C drive and G drive) I
have other harddrives in the computer, that is why the second partition on
it is G:

I also have Partition Magic Version 8.0 but I find no way there to delete
some of the unused space on G: and add it to C:

How can I accomplish this since it is one physical Harddrive?

Change the drive letter maybe. If two partitions share the same
physical drive they might as well be consecutively named.

You will need to re-read the PM user manual. It will be a case of shrinking
the G partition from the 'beginning', thus leaving available free space
between the C; drive and the G: drive, then merging the free space into the
C: drive.

You don't have to get free space first.. if you opt to change the size of C,
it will take it off of the other partition assuming that there is space
available not taken up by programs/code..

Yes I have.
When I try to resize G: drive and select a smaller size to then distribute
to C: drive and Apply, I get theses
2 errors:

Error #1608. File Record marked used File 13039.

Hardly an intelligent feedback. Their PM knowledgebase is also not very
useful.

Then another window comes up with Error #983. Too many errors. Process
halted.

OK, I shall try that. I was always trying to do it from the G: drive.

Will try your suggestion and report back. Thanks in meantime.

Mike, I just tried it. The same errors come up as stated earlier:

useful.( says one can ignore this error) Dumb, because after that I get
another window with Error #983. Too many errors. Process
halted.

In my case Mike i run 3 operating systems, so C, D, E, so to speak would all
contain programs/code at the start of the partition. The only way i got
round it was, as i suggested to the original poster, shrinking the partition
from the start of the second partition and then grabbing the free space.
I've never tried it on a partition that was soley used for backup purposes.

Partition Magic will do it just fine.

Run chkdsk /f on both drives. Restart the computer.

Defragment both drives.

With Partition Magic:

Reduce the size of G.

Reduce the size of the partition on which G resides.

Move the partition on which G resides to the "end" of the disk.

Increase the size of the partition on which C resides.

Increase the size of C.

Defragment both drives again.
