1) Compacting db w/multiple tables 2) "May not be Safe" message

Question 1:

How to "Compact" db with multiple tables? Must you do each table
individually? Or does Access 2003 do all tables in the currently open data
base?

Question 2:

I get this message when I try and open my access data base...

"This file may not be safe if it contains code that was intended to harm
your computer. Do you want to open this file or cancel the operation?"

This is a commercial data base that I feel confident is OK. I also get the
message on a db I created with an older version of Access???

Whats going on here?

1) Access will compact the currently open file, including all objects in
that file. However, if you have linked tables (tables in another file) that
file and its tables won't be compacted.

2) This is a new "feature" in Access 2003. They have added the macro
security that has been in Word and Excel. If you haven't already, you need
to install service pack 8 for Jet 4. This can be done through
www.windowsupdate.com. Unless you have a security certificate to "sign" the
file with, then to disable the message go to Tools|Macro|Security and set
the Security Level to Low. You may also want to read up on this at these

How can I tell if I have Service Pack * for Jet 4 installed?

The easiest way to tell is to go to Windows Update
(windowsupdate.microsoft.com). If you don't have Jet 4 Service Pack 8
installed, it will offer to install it. If you want to manually check, see
