0x80004005 error in Outlook 2007 when accessing IMAP account

I have just installed Office 2007 SBE and as part of the installation
upgraded the Outlook Express on my XP Pro computer.
I use IMAP to an Mdaemon mail server and this has been working with no
problems with OE.
After the installation completed, and the contacts and account migrated
automatically to the new Outlook 2007, I receive an error stating that the
server gave an unrecognised response and yields an error code 0x80004005

When I open the still existing OE I can access the server and IMAP folders
with no difficulty.

I have downloaded all patches etc. but still no joy.

How should I proceed?

I've been using Office Outlook 2007 and Vista since both of these products
were released. I just installed the December 2007 Microsoft updates and
received this error when synchronizing my IMAP Gmail account. I can only
assume it has something to do with one of the patches. Anyone else see this?
