Zoom feature

Am I correct in saying that if zoom is applied in a
document via icon on Std toolbar, any change is made to
document and it is saved the zoom percentage will save
with it and will hold if opened on any computer. Some
people disagree withme on this. I'm just wondering what is
the correct answer.

Thanks,

Aidan.

The zoom setting is saved with the document, with the following caveats:

1. You can't just open a document, change the zoom, and save because Word
doesn't consider this a "change" and therefore won't actually save. You have
to do something to "dirty" the document (enable the Undo button). The usual
suggestion is a "phantom edit" such as Spacebar, Backspace.

2. In Word 2000 and above, thanks to SDI, documents will sometimes
perversely open at the zoom previously used in a given window. For example,
if you have several documents open and close one, the next one you open may
be at the zoom of the one you just closed (or even at some other, entirely
unrelated zoom out of left field). This can be very frustrating, but it
seems to occur less in Word 2003 than I noticed in Word 2002.
